The Helium
There is no catch! It’s 100% free to become a host. We assume all of the risk (purchasing the hardware) and you provide the location (which you already have) in exchange we take a share of the profits.
In order to provide NEW coverage to cell phone subscribers and receive earnings each hotspot needs to be spread out. Having two or more hotspots in the same location doesn’t provide any additional coverage.
This is why we need hosts (you) to help us spread out the coverage!
Earnings vary significantly from location to location. If approved we will make you an offer of up to $100 per month!
The hotspot will consume about the same amount of power as your existing WiFi router. Think $1-2 a month maximum (your earnings will far exceed this cost).
This depends on how many cell phone subscribers are nearby. But generally speaking it will not slow down your network or cause any overages.
The short answer is yes! By setting up a second guest network you segment your customers off of your main network! However, as with all devices connected to the internet (smart TV’s, Alexa’s, computers, phones, etc…) there is some level of risk. Please check the security article that Helium released here for more information on the security measures they take to keep your network safe.
